Established by John Frederick Staniforth (1901-1988) in 1935 and operating until 1939/1940 when the family moved to Rotherham and established the Staniforth’s bakery which in still a family business today. The photographic business started life from a small studio in Bland’s Cliff and later expanded to have a second studio at the Staniforth family home and board house in Columbus Ravine. Operating a bit like a walkie business people would be photographed on their way to the beach and hopefully purchase the prints that would be displayed outside the shop as they returned.
