Albert Bennett (b.1855)
Born in 1855 in London Albert Bennett came to Scarborough sometime before 1881 when he was recorded lodging with the photographer William Lofthouse at 4 Grosvenor Cottage, Scarborough. At the time he was a Billiard Marker, either scoring or running bets on billiard games. In the 1890 he is listed in the Bulmer’s Directory as running the Billiard Room at Bar Hotel, 88 Newborough for the Landlord, James Barwick. He is also listed as a photographer at 13 Auborough Street. There is also a carte de visite from the 1890s which bears the inscription “Bennett and Medd, Scarborough”, it is not known if this is the same Bennett.
