Thomas Taylor (1858->1904)

Thomas Taylor advertises that his business was established in 1874 which if his birth date is correct would make him 16 which does not seem entirely likely. His address of Children’s Corner on the back of the ferrotype (tintype) below is actually on the beach just south of the Spa. Later he moved to the Middlesborough Hotel at 44 Dumple Street (now demolished) where he was the landlord as well as continuing his photographic business.

On the 7 December 1881 Taylor married Miss Alleyne Elizabeth Bland from Scarborough at St Mary’s Parish Church (York Herald).
