Joseph Ernest Truefitt (1879-1938)

Joseph Ernest Truefitt is listed with a studio in Huntriss Row, Scarborough in the 1909 Kelly’s Directory.

Joseph Truefitt was born in Scarborough, the son of Isaac (b.1835) and Mary Jane Varey (1844-1920). The family lived in Scarborough in 1881 and in Middlesbrough in 1891. Later they ran a guesthouse at Leighton House where Joseph was living, probably with other family members. Joseph was one of a large family - Ann (b.1862), Thomas Varey (b.1864), Isaac (b.1865) John William (b.1870), George A. (b.1874), Robert Varey (b.1876), Mary Ann (b.1881) and Herbert Gladstone (b.1888). He is buried in Dean Road Cemetery.
