D. B. Seaman and Co

Dennis Benjamin Seaman (1870-1964) was one of the sons of Alfred Seaman, Derbyshire photographer. His brother Frederick also had a studio in Scarborough. Dennis had worked with his father in Chesterfield and at other branches of the family business initially as a gilder and carver making picture frames before setting up as a photographer in Liverpool in 1894. He had a number of other studios including working in Scarborough and Bridlington, although the dates are unclear.

He married Eveline Constance Shaw in Chesterfield in 1894 and they had one daughter Violet Elsie (b.1894).
